Jul 23, 2007 ... If you ever wanted to compare the satellite imagery data from Google Earth, Live Maps and Yahoo! Maps, look no further than Flash Earth ... Aerial Satellite Images from NASA, Google Earth, Yahoo! Maps & Windows Live By Amit Agarwal Published on 2007-07-23 If you ever wanted to compare the satellite imagery data from Google Earth, Live Maps and Yahoo! Maps, look no further than Flash Earth (caution, this may be an illegal site) Flash Earth is a Adobe Flash based mapping service that works inside the browser and fetches mapping data and aerial pictures from several mapping websites including NASA, Microsoft, Yahoo, Ask.com and Google. Flash Earth has not been formally endorsed by any of the imagery providers (Google, Microsoft, Yahoo! etc.) as it conflicts with their Terms of Use which states that the imagery should only by accessed via their official API, and not by any other means (which Flash Earth has done). Tip: if you know the coordinates of a location by its latitude and longitude, you can enter these figures into the search box and be taken to that position.  www.flashearth.com Looking for something? You’ll get to explore Earth in new ways that you’ve never thought possible. Google Maps is the ULTIMATE tool for satellite maps. It’s grown over the years. So has its features: Like it’s panoramic street views. Its 3D perspectives are mind-blowingly insane. And almost everyone’s favorite: finding their house with its solid addressing system. But the best part about Google Maps is that it’s regularly updated. In fact, it’s hard to find any imagery that’s more than 3 years old. The only downside I can think of is that you only get ONE snapshot in time. That’s where Google Earth Pro comes in… Popquiz, hotshot! Does Google Maps and Google Earth Pro share the same imagery? The answer is: They are completely DIFFERENT from each other. Google Earth Pro lets you hit rewind in its historical timeline. That way, you can interactively view past satellite maps for anywhere in the world. Long ago, this used to be a paid feature. But now, it’s completely free. So if you want to see imagery like capsules of time, Google Earth Pro is a complete winner. We all know what Earth looks like. But what does it look like RIGHT NOW? NASA’s Worldview aims at real-time imagery delivery. That is, Earth how it is “right now”. But there’s more: It shows over 800 layers of satellite imagery. And typically, most have just a 3 hour delay in time.

POSTED ONJUNE 6, 2013 BY FRASER CAIN How Can You See a Satellite View of Your House? This is an article from our archive, but we’ve updated it with this spiffy video. Every now and then I go looking for a free aerial view of my home. It’s amazing what’s available through the internet now, totally free. Thanks to commercial Earth observation satellites, and internet tools that make these photos accessible through the internet, it’s easy to see your house from space. In our modern space age, there are more than 8,000 satellites currently orbiting the Earth. The vast majority of these are relaying data to and from the Earth, and many are equipped with high power cameras. Just look up into the sky any night, and you’re sure to see satellite after satellite passing overhead. But what are some ways you can get access to these satellite and aerial images of your house? Satellite Images of the Whole Earth If you want to go way out and just see a satellite image of the entire planet, there are some solutions for you: weather satellites. For example, NOAA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) release images of an entire hemisphere of planet Earth every 3 hours. From these images you can see major weather patterns affecting parts of the Earth. But you really can’t see any specific spot on Earth with any detail. What is really cool about these satellite views is that they’re live. The weather systems you’re seeing in those images are happening on the planet right now.
