What did you think of the choice you picked? New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast i played first in English, i liked the voices although i feel the japanese VAs are more natural and less cartoonish; Darin as Ardyn is simply the best. English. The localization team and voice actors did a fantastic job. I think Gladio still sounds better in Japanese but I personally found Noctis, Prompto, and Ignis sounded better in the dub. Japanese. I don't like them in english. Somehow, I feel some overacting on 'em, though I respect anyone's choice. Actually even the English speaking VA's acknowledged this in one of their livestreams or during a panel. When they first started they were using the Japanese voices as references so they ended up doing their lines with similar timing etc causing it to sound very Anime like, but the team eventually stopped needing the reference audio once they learned the characters and it sounds a lot more natural later on in the game. I go with what I understand. I think the English VAs are great. Japanese, I usually pick the original language it's in. I like the English voices too but Mamoru Miyano's voice pulls me back in, I also like listening for differences in the eng subs, so I'll get both sides of the script. I always play in a language that I understand. The localisation team has made a good job in transribing the tone and feel of the dialogues, taking into consideration of Japan/Western culture differences.
