Centurion Air Cargo closes its doors Centurion Air Cargo has surrendered its air carrier operating certificate (AOC) and has decided against continuing to pursue the resumption of operations. According to the US Department of Transportation (DoT), the Miami-based freighter operator "operated under its certificate and exemption authority until December 31, 2016, when Centurion ceased all operations". In January 2017, the DoT informed the carrier that its economic authority would be suspended until it had re-determined its fitness to resume operations, with a limit of one year. In December 2017 the carrier requested and was granted an extension of the limit until March 2018. It later filed for another extension until June 30. However, in May, the carrier informed the DoT that it had decided against continuing to pursue the resumption of its operations and in June it advised that it surrendered its AOC certificate issued by the FAA. The company confirmed it is now "permanently closed, that the decision was made by Centurion management, and that Centurion voluntarily returned its operating authority to DoT and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)". The DoT said: “Under these circumstances, and in accordance with section 204.7 of our rules, we revoke Centurion’s interstate and foreign charter certificate authority. This action is without prejudice to the company’s filing for new certificate authority in the future.” Centurion held interstate and foreign charter cargo certificates, a blanket open-skies all cargo certificate, and various exemptions authorising it to engage in foreign scheduled all cargo air transportation.

Centurion Miami Cargo Center - Miami International Airport A new $120 million industrial and infrastructure development at Miami International Airport (MIA) recently broke ground to house the operations of Centurion Air Cargo, Inc. The 800,000 square foot project is a co-development by Aeroterm and Bristol Group, Inc. in conjunction with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) and includes the redevelopment of a hangar and construction of a new cargo warehouse facility. MIA is the number one international air cargo airport in the United States by volume. The project will have a significant regional economic impact, increasing productivity and creating jobs in Miami-Dade County. • 800,000 sf of warehouse & hangar • 150,000 sf of refrigerated space, largest in MIA • Seven Boeing 747 aircraft positions • Flexible as single or multi-tenant facility This new state-of-the-art project for Centurion Air Cargo will be located on perhaps the last significant airside development parcel available at Miami International Airport. The project will strategically redevelop largely under utilized land. Centurion Air Cargo will use the facility as an international shipping and receiving hub as well as its new headquarters.  The new Cargo Center will provide approximately 400,000 square feet of cargo processing space, including 147,000 square feet of refrigerated warehouse to accommodate the import of fresh flowers, fruits, vegetables and fish in separate cooler compartments. The Center will house more than 100,000 square feet of general offices and provide in excess of 500,000 square feet of exclusive ramp which can accommodate up to eight (8) Boeing 747s, providing for the efficient loading and unloading of aircraft. Additional airport-owned aircraft parking positions will be available immediately south of the facility. More than 90 landside docks support truck access, including four (4) with drive-in load ramps. All public side docks allow direct throughput of cargo to and from airside. The ramp also has airside doors positioned to support cargo handling of multiple aircraft. Cargo handling systems are planned to ensure rapid sorting, processing and transport of cargo. Finally, the rehabilitated 298,000 square foot hangar to the west of the Cargo Center offers three (3) wide body aircraft positions.
