We visited this lovely little gift of a restaurant for our 31 wedding anniversary and it was perfect, quiet, romantic with carefully prepared food. Everything was delicious, my hub had the seabass with black rice and veg. I had the stone fruit seasonal salad with soft burrata cheese, light and refreshing. We shared a half bottle of the Sancerre. The desserts were amazing and not overly sweet. The service was efficient and unobtrusive so we were able to have a nice conversation without someone interrupting every five minutes to ask, "Are you still working on that?"

Basilic Restaurant Restaurant Review: French-Swiss bistro Basilic is a tiny space (only 24 seats) on Balboa Island's charming Marine Avenue. While the menu features French (steak au poivre, coq au vin, carre d'agneau) and Swiss classics (raclette, emincé de veau Zurichois), chef and proprietor Bernard Althaus also creates seasonally inspired dishes each night. For a gourmand experience, opt for the five-course prix-fixe menu, which must be ordered for the entire table. In winter only, chef Althaus hosts monthly all-you-can-eat raclette nights. The wine list features well-picked bottles mostly from California's Napa Valley, France and Switzerland.
